How It Works
Step 1: User Enters a Search Query
- The user types a keyword (e.g., “Budapest”) in the Universal Search Form input field.
- As they type, instant dropdown suggestions appear, showing matched listings and categories from different directories.
Step 2: Selecting a Search Suggestion
- The user can either:
- Click on a listing to go directly to its details page.
- Click on a category to view all listings under that category.
- Press Enter to view a full list of results on the Universal Search Result page.
Step 3: Viewing Search Results
- The Universal Search Result page displays search results in structured sections:
- Listings appear under their respective directories (e.g., "Results from Places," "Results from Real Estate").
- Categories are also listed within their relevant directories.
- Tabs allow users to switch between directory-specific views.
Step 4: Filtering & Refinement
- Users can refine results using the filter panel, allowing them to:
- Toggle between directories (e.g., Places, Real Estate).
- Filter by categories.
- Change the layout (e.g., List view, Grid view).
Step 5: Clicking a Result
- Clicking a listing opens its detailed page.
- Clicking a category shows all listings under that category in the corresponding directory.
Step 6: No Results Fallback
- If no results are found, a message appears, suggesting an alternative search or another directory.
Conclusion
The Universal Search feature enhances usability by integrating multiple directories into a single search experience. Its structured results page, intuitive dropdown suggestions, and category integration provide an efficient and visually appealing solution for multi-directory searches.
